Hurricane Katrina | 8.29.05
On Monday, August 29, 2005, Bryan and a team of reporters, editors and photographers flew and then drove into Biloxi, Miss. to help editor Stan Tiner and the staff Biloxi Sun Herald publish through what would be the worst natural disaster
the nation had ever seen.
Over the next few days and weeks, while their neighboring city of New Orleans was largely underwater, residents of south Mississippi struggled through their own hell after they absorbed the full force -- killer winds, storm surge and then the neglect -- of Hurricane Katrina.
The work of The Sun Herald and Knight Ridder was awarded the 2006 Pulitzer Prize Gold Medal for Public Service.
